When Eleni and George inquired with us, we, like quite often, started to google for the venue, so we typed in “Seven Martyrs Sifnos” and what came up as a result, we just couldn’t believe it was a real place. We understood right from that point why these two lovers made plans to get married at this pristine place. They had told us in the email that eight years ago they decided to one day get married on Sifnos. To be honest, from the day the booking happened to the day we finally flew to Greece, we still couldn’t believe this was a real place, and so most of our friends couldn’t. When Björn put a photo of the chapel on his Facebook timeline, saying how excited he was to receive the inquiry, almost all of our wedding photographer peers started crossing fingers for us (even if some of them definitely were jealous for this, but that’s totally ok).
So fast forward to September 2016 now. We had our friend Pi second shoot this one with us and from the moment we arrived at Sifnos (after flying from Hamburg to Istanbul, Istanbul to Athens, by car from the airport to Piraeus, spending the night in a hotel, taking the first ferry in the morning to Sifnos) we felt welcome and really happy. Eleni and George picked us up and showed us the place where we were gonna stay for the next couple of days. They excused themselves for not being able to offer a better view. Are you kidding? That view was amazing. We could have spent hours just watching the landscape and the sea.
[actually everything I could tell you about what was going on can be seen in the photos, so we’ll stop blabbering about this now]
The thing with couples such as Eleni and George is, we just love them. And we fall for them really easily. There are these little things about people, the things they say, the way they act. Sometimes it just clicks and you connect right from the first minute. Let’s say this, when a couple is crazy and wild enough to have the nautical coordinates of the chapel they will get married in tattooed on their bodies, we know right from the start these lovers will be a perfect fit. Living wild and free, not caring about conventions. There two quotes or three quotes that stuck with us from what they said to us: “Thanks for inviting me to your wedding, but I’m not sure I can make it, I think I’d rather spend the day at the beach.”, “I was so happy when I saw you guys leaving the ferry, you ARE here, with us, for us!” and the last one is something that really moved us, “This blue will be the last thing I will ever see in my life. When we are old, we will move to this island, and there’s nothing else we will need to see than each other and this blue.”
