What does "Hafenliebe" even mean and how the f is it pronounced?

It’s a mix of two German words, “Hafen”, which means harbour and “Liebe”, which means love, and it’s pronounced /ˈhaːfnliːbə/. The name is my way of paying homage to the city I live in, to the way I feel when I'm sitting at the docks, listening to the crashing waves and watching ships pass by.

I guess it's about the unwinding feeling of coming home after days and weeks on the road, and the unspoken promise of freedom and new adventures at the same time – it’s hard to explain, but you’re welcome to hang with me and experience it for yourself.

How many images do you include?

For me one of the most important and also hardest and time consuming tasks is image curation and I believe in giving you the best of the best and not boring you with several versions of the same photo over and over again. These are your memories, I'll make sure to give you more than enough images to remember this time in your lives.

What's your turnaround time?

The turnaround time depends on how much I shoot, how busy I am overall, my travel schedule, things like that. Typically, for sessions it takes 3 weeks or less and weddings take 6 weeks or less. I try to get them back to you as soon as possible while making sure I give time to each and every image needs.

Do you give RAW unedited images?

Nope. That's the easiest answer you can get, and also the most honest. I do believe editing is an important part of my work and I don't like to let jobs go unfinished.

If you feel I missed delivering a photo, just ask! I’m more than happy to check back through my images and send it over to you (I make mistakes, I'm human after all).

Can you photoshop us?

I believe in promoting self love and body positivity, so I don’t alter the way you look other than skin blemishes or anything temporary that would not normally be there (bruise, scrape, acne etc unless you’d like me to keep it the photos).

How does covering travel expenses work?

You have you pay for the bare minimum (flight, transportation, accomodation). I’m also open to staying with you, your family, sharing an airbnb with you to help save you some bucks. And if it works out on both ends I’m also more than happy to get picked up and dropped off at the airport to save on paying for a rental car!

For booking, I book flights on my own (you can book my stay if you’d like, but I am firm on booking my own flights + accomodation).

You can estimate costs by checking how much hotels/airbnbs typically cost in the area we will be staying, how much roundtrip flights are from Hamburg (HAM).

We read that you are living a vegan lifestyle. What exactly does that mean and what can we serve you for dinner?

Vegan means, that I don't eat any animal products, this includes everything such as milk, eggs, cheese and all other animal ingredients. I would highly appreciate it, if you have that in mind.

How many weddings do you take per year?

It depends. I shoot around 15 mostly, not more, as I wanna focus on quality and not wear myself out by shooting too many.

What happens if you can’t make it to our wedding?

Looking back on the last six years, this never happened, so fingers crossed it never will, but if it happens (for things out of my control such as illness, death, etc) I would do my best to help find a replacement photographer to take my place. Someone that I trust (most hopefully) with a similar style. As I'm part of the Bildpoeten network, I can rely on a network of many talented photographers.

What if there's bad weather?

I always encourage embracing whatever weather comes our way, as it’s beautiful and unique in photos. If conditions are too harsh and I'd be risking to ruin my gear, we'd either find a way to shoot indoors (on weddings), or reschedule the session.
