Love of mine, some day you will die
But I’ll be close behind
I’ll follow you into the dark
No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
– Death Cab For Cutie
There was this one day when befriended wedding photographer from Hamburg, Stefan Roehl (whose wedding we shot a few years ago in Hamburg & Paris), messaged us and asked if we’ve ever shot a wedding at the Vju, and that this cafe on the top floor of a former world war bunker would be a location we will definitely enjoy shooting at. He was right. A few months later we received the inquiry by Jessy and Volker to document their wedding at the Vju in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg and we fell in love with the location right away. It’s such a non-wedding venue, it’s made of concrete, it’s gritty, it’s kinda cold (some would say) it has its’ very own personality to it. We love these places a lot.
Jessy, Volker, we enjoyed the (cold and rainy) day with you, your family and friends a lot. There were also some firsts for us: first time shooting in a former bunker, first time live surf / punk band, first time listening to The Clash’s “I fought the law” as opening song for the dance night. Thanks so much for having us.
Also thanks to Pi of Ross und Hügel Fotografie for 2nd shooting with us again.
